A long-time friend of mine announced, fairly out of the blue, that he had established his own company.
Yes. Just like that.
Dopamine Communications it is called, and he asked me if I could make a logo for him. “Not a problem!” I said, “What do you need?”

The logo had to be simple, tight…corporate, almost. The only real requirement to it was the use of colour, which was provided, and the use of the actual chemical structure that makes up Dopamine (dopamine is the chemical released in the body that makes one ‘happy’.)

I immediately had an idea I wanted to try and put together, and about an hour later I had the first take on the logo.
It was very much not what he was expecting, but he was pleasantly surprised. That said, it had to be even more simple.

After some more, simple compositions he settled on a design, and from there on it was a matter of putting together the right colours.

Below you can see a quick impression of the various versions and colour combinations I went though before reaching the final image, which is the logo that will be used. We both agreed that this version was by far the best, as the text docks nicely under the “arch” leading to the NH2

Till next time!
