Some people are easy to please, others not so much. Some people are quite stingy about things…and then there’s my buddy. Don’t get me wrong, his hair-splitting qualities are positive ones, but pleasing this man is like trying to fold a bowling ball in half.

“That last logo you made…it’s cool, but it just isn’t it. I want to approach the thing from a whole new direction. It has to be more simple; stuff you could see on a T-shirt, you know?”

And so round 4 of the Loosiick logo-and-banner campaign started.
I took to heart when he said it had to be simple, so I did just that and cranked out a few simple but distinct black-and-white logos, to see what would tickle his fancy.

After a long session of coming up with ideas I nailed it. A design that was both abstract and unique, yet simple. All that rested now was a banner…

“I think creating my name with the same “letters” you used for the logo would look really cool!”

And so I went to work on just that. Not being a man of half work, I even created a few variations of the design I made, so the man had options to choose from.

“…I don’t like it. I’ll think of something else and I’ll let you know.”

Time well spent!
Ultimately the man came back with a different idea.

“Think film Noir. A cool, grey-ish background with a billboard in front and my name on it in sort of a 60s font. Think you can do that?”

One 60s-styled billboard in a grey-ish film Noir, coming up!

It turns out I bit of more than I thought I had to chew. I browsed through some sites for a font that would fit the bill(board) but I wasn’t quite sold on any of them. I did have an idea,. but had no idea if it would work. And I knew it was going to take time to make it myself.
In the end I decided I would try my hand at hand-crafting the letters, and the end result is something that I am quite proud of.
More than that, however, is that he, too, is very pleased with the end result!
(I did it!)

It took quite a while to get to the finish line, but looking back on it, it was well worth it.
See the gallery below for an impression of the process I went through from start to finish.

‘Till next time!
