I just can’t seem to let my characters be for what they are. Around this time I looked back at my past work and thought “I can probably do a better job that this now,” and decided that I would try to update my characters. Just the ones from my Novel, that is.
Lianna was the first I wanted to do. I decided I wanted to try and take the things that I had learned from a recent paid tutorial to see how far I could take this.
It took a good while to get this right, as shading and highlights in this style of painting is very different (and much harder) than the cell-shaded style I used before.
