Infographics are cool, yet tight. Infographics are handy. Infographics can show a lot of information in just one image. Infographics are pretty tough to make.

A friend of mine had started working at a new company called Springest and he approached me with the question whether or not I’d be up for making an infographic for the company. He told me that their in-house graphics designer had [something, I forget] and was unable to do it.

I had never made an infographic before, but I was more than willing to give it a shot. I didn’t want to underestimate its simplicity, however. Infographs have to be as simple as possible (without becoming boring) meaning you need the use of icons, but they immediately have to make sense in the context they’re displayed in, otherwise your messaging has failed. It’s a much tighter rope than one might think.

In this first ever try I went through a few iterations in how to best display the information needed. For a first try, this isn’t all that bad. Looking back I feel it looks cluttered; not a lot of breathing room, and therefore overwhelming, perhaps. That said, it was a lot of information that needed displaying. Perhaps I should have opted to spread the info over multiple images…
Oh well, what’s done is done. Gallery below!

‘Til next time.
